South Asia SAARC Rabies Webinars

Updates and progress in the SAARC region towards elimination of dog-mediated human rabies by 2030

Almost 400 participants from SOUTH ASIAN ASSOCIATION FOR REGIONAL COOPERATION (SAARC) countries and around the world attended this 3-day webinar event organised by FAO, OIE and WHO which followed up the SAARC rabies workshop in June 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The daily themes were:

  • Day 1: Organizing a mass dog vaccination (MDV) campaign including use of oral rabies vaccines (ORV)
  • Day 2: Multisectoral Coordination Mechanism (MCM) in responding to rabies elimination
  • Day 3: Developing a National Strategic Plan (NSP) for elimination of dog-mediated human rabies – the foundation for rabies control and elimination
